CASA SEDIARI |
Situated on the top two floors of a 19th-century building between the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, Casa Sediari embodies a delicate balance between innovation and respect for history. The main design objective was to sensitively renovate, enhancing the existing structure and adapting the spaces to contemporary needs.
Through targeted demolition work, hidden architectural details were rediscovered, while creating a more functional spatial layout. The color palette is based on sandy tones, chosen to emphasize the beauty of the ancient wooden truss and highlight the new galvanized iron structural elements, such as the walkway connecting the upper levels and the staircase with organic forms. A defining feature of the project is its extreme customization. Among its most significant details are the ceramics created by artist Iva Drekalovic, which cover one wall and are inspired by the Fountain of Neptune in Piazza Navona. The collaboration between architect and artist also led to the creation of a unique table, featuring a monolithic ceramic base and a charred wood top. This dialogue between art and architecture led to the founding of StudioMartello, a creative workshop dedicated to designing and producing walls and objects distinguished by extraordinary craftsmanship. Casa Sediari stands as a manifesto for an approach that celebrates the fusion of tradition and innovation, of historical memory and contemporary design |
